Charleston, South Carolina, provided a breathtaking backdrop for Katherine and Rahul’s wedding weekend—a vibrant fusion of Indian and Western traditions that beautifully reflected their love as well as the richness of both cultures.
From the vibrant pre-wedding festivities at The Gibbes Museum to the elegant riverside ceremony at The Island House, every detail was thoughtfully crafted—including the timing. Their wedding weekend coincided with Halloween, Día de los Muertos, All Saints’ Day, Diwali, and the Hindu New Year, making the celebration even more meaningful. In many ways, it echoed the spirit of these holidays—embracing light, music, and togetherness.
“Nicholas was amazing to work with. He is not only funny and personable but he also possesses an unparalleled sense of framing. Every picture came out beautifully. We would recommend him without reservation.”
KATHERINE & RAHUL
Set against the historic charm of the Gibbes, the weekend festivities kicked off with a lively Sangeet.
The Sangeet, an Indian pre-wedding tradition, is an evening of dance and storytelling—where family and friends take the stage with choreographed routines, share speeches, and celebrate the couple’s journey.
Katherine and Rahul’s wedding day began in traditional Indian style with the Baraat, an exuberant procession marking the groom’s arrival.
Rahul’s entrance was nothing short of spectacular—surrounded by friends and family dancing to the beats of DJ Volcanik Entertainment. The energy was infectious.
Rahul and Katherine’s love story unfolded in an unexpected way. Though they both attended Georgetown University, it wasn’t until years later—through a chance meeting—that their paths truly crossed.
Charleston became a special getaway for them while Katherine was in graduate school at Duke, making it the perfect choice for their wedding destination.
Nestled along the Charleston waterfront, The Island House offered a breathtaking backdrop for the couple’s wedding ceremony—a seamless blend of Hindu and Western traditions.
Their decision to forgo elaborate floral installations in favor of letting the natural beauty of the venue shine spoke volumes about their desire for authenticity. Guests watched as two families, two cultures, and two sets of traditions intertwined.
Katherine and Rahul’s wedding was more than just a union—it was a celebration of love, heritage, and togetherness.
They chose venues that reflected their love of nature, history, and meaningful design. The result was a wedding weekend that felt not just curated, but deeply personal—a perfect beginning to their next chapter.
Here’s to a lifetime of love, laughter, and continued celebration for Katherine and Rahul!
